The Transnistrian authorities said that, given the imposed economic emergency, they are in constant dialogue with the parties involved and are making every possible effort to maintain gas supplies in the same volumes.
At the same time, Tiraspol put forward an initiative to Chisinau to ensure energy security on both banks of the Dniester.
“In this context, we propose that the Moldovan side as soon as possible send a joint appeal from Transnistria and Moldova to Russia and Ukraine with a request to take, on the basis of considerations of humanity and concern for people, the necessary decisions to ensure the transit of natural gas to Transnistria, part of the volume of which is necessary to provide Moldova with electricity.
We proceed from the fact that the prevention of humanitarian crisis and negative consequences for the population during the winter period is a common priority for all involved participants, meets the interests of the two countries - mediators and guarantors in the international process of the Moldovan-Transnistrian settlement and will be their important practical contribution to the preservation of stability in the pan-regional space,” the statement of the so-called “Foreign Ministry” of the region reads.
The Moldovan constitutional authorities have not yet commented on the proposal.
