This was reported by the chairman of the Education and Science Trade Union Federation, Ghenadie Donos.
“Of course, we understand the economic and financial situation, but we have already found some compromises. If these increases, through the academic degree and pay category, turn out to be good, and if the negotiations continue and other reallocations of the 2025 budget are considered, perhaps we will reconsider our claims. But many colleagues are ready for the fact that after the New Year they will not return to schools,” Ghenadie Donos said, moldova1.md reports.
The union representatives insist on increasing the base rate, as well as on raising the allowances for the degree “doctor habilitat” to 4,000 lei and to 2,800 lei for “doctor of science”. These demands are justified by the fact that in 2025 the highest salary in higher education - for a full qualifying period professor - will be only 15,275 lei, which is 800 lei less than the average earnings in the economy.
“We want to get things done through base rate increases, through these raises in positions, through other methods that are being discussed. Today, in particular, representatives of higher education were very dissatisfied. Unfortunately, a lot of problems have accumulated, and today it is very difficult to document all this and bring it up for discussion,” said Ghenadie Donos.
At the meeting of the Ministry of Education and Science, the most heated debates were about the base rate in the draft budget. The parties did not reach a consensus and the budget parameters remain at the level indicated in the first reading draft - 2200 and 2500 lei. Education Minister Dan Perciun told the union representatives that the increase in salaries will take place indirectly through an increase in the financing of teaching and managerial posts. About 200 million lei will be allocated for this purpose.
The unions insist on a base rate of 2,600 lei.
