This was said by Polish Minister of Agriculture Czesław Siekierski. He noted that during the meeting of European agriculture ministers this issue was actively discussed, but Poland had not supported this initiative yet, epravda.com.ua reported. “It’s an open debate. And we have the position of the four countries. But at the moment, as the presidency, we are neither in favor nor against, because even if we as a country are a party, we as the presidency have to look for compromises. .... We will have a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on 13 March, and we are also in constant bilateral contacts,” Siekierski said. He stressed that future trade measures depend on the military situation in Ukraine and possible changes in the EU trade policy. According to the Polish official, Ukraine’s compliance with European standards in the sphere of agricultural production and sustainable development is also important. “And our negotiations, our bilateral negotiations should also contain what the Ukrainian side will propose, that is to adopt our standards and requirements for agricultural production in Europe, or sustainability standards there in Ukraine,” he said.
