PAS MPs spoke about the registration of a new draft law that would allow the national public company Teleradio-Moldova to launch a Russian-language channel.
PAS MP Natalia Davidovici said that together with her colleague Eugeniu Sinchevici they had registered a law on a project that would allow opening a Russian-language channel on the national television. Davidovici explained the reasons for this decision:
‘It is the duty of the state to ensure that all its citizens have equal access to information, and we believe that every Moldovan citizen, regardless of the language they speak, has the right to know from a reliable and objective source what is happening in their country,” rupor.md reported.
The deputy specified that this task of delivering information should be performed by national television, as it is the channel with the widest possible coverage. According to the authors of the draft law, people have the right to learn news on national television, not on foreign channels, where they are manipulated and often outright lied to. Davidovici emphasized that Russian propaganda has become extremely strong during the years of war in Ukraine and indeed threatens Moldova’s security.
