The parliament ratified a loan agreement between Moldova and the European Union on specific conditions for the implementation of the support provided by the European Union within the Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova.
The decision was criticized by the parliamentary opposition, noi.md wrote.
The loan is aimed at supporting the enlargement process by accelerating the alignment with the values, regulations, norms and principles of the European Union legislation; supporting the gradual integration of the internal market of the Republic of Moldova into the Community market and accelerating the socio-economic convergence with the European Union market.
Thus, our country will receive financial support in the amount of 1.9 billion euros. There is also a grant component worth 520 million euros, which is intended for investments, technical assistance and loan guarantees. Our country will also receive loans worth 1.5 billion euros, which will be disbursed as progress is made in the implementation of the ongoing reforms.
The financial support will be provided on the basis of certain conditions, which are contained in the Growth Plan Reform Programme for Moldova, which was recently approved by the government. It contains 153 measures and 56 reforms to be implemented by the end of 2027.
The reform programme covers seven key sectors. These are: economic competitiveness and private sector development; communications and digital infrastructure; economic governance; equity; green transition and natural capital; energy security and efficiency; and fundamental values.
