The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova voted in the second session for a bill on the establishment of an Anticorruption College at the level of judicial authorities. This legislative initiative aims to create a specialized structure for dealing with high-level corruption cases and related crimes, according to moldpres.md. The Anticorruption College will operate within the Chisinau Court and will hear cases in the first instance involving officials appointed by parliament, the president or the government, employees of the National Anticorruption Centre, and other persons holding important public offices. The College will also hear criminal cases involving damages or amounts exceeding certain thresholds established by law. At the same time, two specialized anticorruption commissions will be established in the Central Appeals Chamber to analyze appeals and complaints regarding the decisions of the College. The draft provides for 15 judgeships in the Anticorruption College, which will have a separate headquarters in Chisinau and will be headed by the deputy chair of the Chisinau Court. It also regulates the selection criteria and guarantees for judges who will work in this area. The law shall enter into force one month after its publication in the Monitorul Oficial, with the exception of certain provisions.
