Home / Economy / Energy Minister: Moldovagaz Debt Won’t Be Shifted to Energocom
Financial deviations in Moldovagaz tariffs – estimated by experts to reach 300 million lei by the end of 2025 – will not be passed on to Energocom.
This was stated by Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, bani.md reports.
“Energocom will not assume these deviations. They remain the responsibility of Moldovagaz. The provider of last resort has a clear, limited mandate – to ensure supplies, not to cover losses incurred by other operators.”
According to energy experts, Moldovagaz tariff deviations stem from the difference between the actual gas cost and the established tariff which has not been compensated due to economic or political delays.
As a reminder, on August 4, ANRE lifted Moldovagaz’s public service obligations, assigning Energocom to supply end consumers on the right bank of the Dniester. The move is part of efforts to unbundle operations and ensure supplier independence in the natural gas market in line with Moldova’s EU commitments.
