Investor Vasile Tofan, who declined the position of prime minister, explained the reasons for his decision and supported the candidate Alexandru Munteanu, proposed by PAS.
“I am not a smooth-tongued person, but serving my country in public service would be a tremendous privilege. I say this sincerely – I would not entrust Moldova’s future to a leader who is prepared to abandon 22 companies and a team of more than 51,000 people, leaving overnight, without a minimum transition period, after 15 years of work. Our country deserves greater responsibility,” Tofan wrote on social media, according to realitatea.md.
According to the businessman, the proposed candidate, Alexandru Munteanu, has the professional experience, integrity, energy, and life wisdom to be an outstanding prime minister.
“He does not need to prove anything to anyone, he does not need to think about his next career move, he has complete financial comfort to focus on priority number one – how to build a competitive economy. Even at the cost of unpopularity, because that is what the necessary reforms require. I am confident that he will have the courage to call a spade a spade and directly tackle the big challenges: demographics, labor force, access to capital, regulation, administrative reform, education, energy, climate stress – the list is long,” wrote Vasile Tofan.
