Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii said that the Republic of Moldova intends to purchase new defense systems and is currently working on concluding a corresponding contract. “These systems are in great demand, there will be new systems, so they need to be produced. You can’t just take them and bring them to Moldova. After signing the contract, the delivery will take one and a half to two years,” the minister said, quoting realitatea.md. When asked whether the country’s current defense systems can detect drones and other threats in Moldovan airspace, Nosatii explained that the national air defense system includes about 20 radars of different types and generations. The second radar will be delivered in early 2026. “The new radar is the latest generation system that will significantly enhance the ability to detect threats in the airspace, including drones,” said Anatolie Nosatii.
