Home / Economy / Lukoil Moldova Did Not Challenge the Seizure of Assets at The Airport in Court
Lukoil appears to have resigned itself to losing its oil terminal at the airport and its warehouse on Muncesti Street in the capital.
The Russian investor no longer challenged the government’s decision in court after the authorities decided to seize the assets privatized in 2004.
This was stated in a comment to TV8 by Roman Cojuhari, head of the Public Property Agency. According to him, negotiations on the transfer of infrastructure to state ownership should be completed in the next few days.
Recall the state decided to seize Lukoil’s assets at the airport after it was established that the company had failed to fulfill its obligations under a contract signed in 2005.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu stated that Lukoil had made certain investment commitments but had failed to fulfill them, which, according to him, had led to risks for national security.
The process of divesting assets was accelerated, including after the United States imposed sanctions on the Russian company Lukoil, forcing it to sell its assets in a number of countries.
As for Lukoil’s more than 100 gas stations in the country, they are to be sold to another company, as the state has stated that it is not interested in acquiring these assets.
