In March 2026, the volume of remittances sent by Moldovans working abroad increased. The figures were released by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).
In March, the total volume of remittances reached $174.52 million, which is higher than the February figure ($138.99 million) and the January level ($128.63 million). This figure is also comparable to that of December 2025, when remittances amounted to $173.77 million, reports rupor.md.
Of the total volume of remittances in March, $93.01 million was processed through instant money transfer systems (STIB), confirming the important role of these channels in supporting financial flows to the Republic of Moldova.
The data also shows that the euro dominates the remittance structure with a share of 84%, whilst the US dollar accounts for approximately 16%. Remittances in Russian rubles are virtually non-existent, and this trend has persisted for some time.
During 2025 and early 2026, remittance volumes fluctuated between $108 million and $174 million per month.
According to statistics, around one million Moldovan citizens work abroad.
