Home / Economy / Moldova Receives €477 Million Under the Economic Growth Plan
This was announced by Marcel Spatari, Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission on European Integration.
According to the official, in order to receive the next tranche of funding, Moldova must put the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power transmission line into operation, IPN reports.
According to the PAS MP, the European funds already transferred are being directed toward several strategic areas of the country’s development.
“As part of the Economic Growth Plan, the Republic of Moldova has received €477 million from the European Union. These funds are being allocated to infrastructure and business support programs. They also concern the fields of education and healthcare. The money enters the state budget, and the programs are financed through the state budget,” Marcel Spatari stated during the program “Eu și Uniunea Europeană” on the public television channel.
The MP noted that access to European funds is conditional upon the implementation of specific reforms and projects carried out by the authorities. One such condition is the commissioning of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage power line, which is considered critically important for the country’s energy security.
“When we talk about the use of European funds, we need to carry out a number of concrete reforms. For example, let us put the Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage line into operation. The line has been built, but technical issues still remain. We are also waiting for it to become operational. Once it is commissioned, the corresponding tranche will be disbursed,” the MP added.
