Slusari Announced Resignation from the Energocom Board Following a Request to Increase Gas Tariffs

Former MP Alexandru Slusari has announced that he will submit his resignation as a member of the Administrative Council of Energocom JSC. According to him, the reason for this decision was the company’s application to the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) requesting an increase in the natural gas tariff. “Today I will submit my resignation as a member of the Administrative Council of Energocom JSC. This decision was taken unexpectedly quickly, but it was prompted by another decision that emerged literally overnight,” said Slusari. He added that he disagrees with the company’s request to raise tariffs and believes that such a decision should have been discussed at a board meeting. “I am stepping down in protest against the application that Energocom submitted to the National Energy Regulatory Authority to increase the gas tariff. I have been a board member for three years, and never before have strategic decisions been communicated to us at the same time as their publication on the company’s official website. The issue of raising tariffs was not discussed at all by the board and appeared unexpectedly yesterday afternoon,” said Slusari. He also stated that he considers the initiative to be premature and insufficiently economically justified. “Personally, I consider it premature and not sufficiently economically justified given the high volatility on international exchanges. With low gas consumption during the spring and summer months, Energocom’s financial performance is not affected by negative tariff variances,” explained Slusari. In his view, the most serious problem was the lack of transparency in the decision-making process. “But the most serious issue, I repeat, is that this initiative emerged unexpectedly and from a source unknown to me. From my very first day on the Energocom board, I have made every effort to ensure the company’s operations are as transparent as possible. I hope I have succeeded in this, although it is for others to judge. Given that my standards of transparency have been grossly and blatantly violated, there is no point in my remaining on this company’s governing body,” noted Slusari. In conclusion, he thanked the Energocom team for their collaboration. “I would like to thank the entire company team, with whom we have weathered many difficult moments but achieved considerable success together. I have learnt a great deal from you in the energy sector. I value you and regret that someone’s hasty and destructive decision is damaging the reputation you have earned through years of conscientious work,” concluded Slusari.
