Home / Economy / Moldova Falls Five Places in Global Attractiveness Ranking
The ranking is compiled by TEHA Group, one of Italy’s leading private think tanks.
The Global Attractiveness Index (GAI) compares 146 economies worldwide based on four macroeconomic indicators of attractiveness: openness, innovation, resource availability and efficiency, logos-press.md reports.
The index is designed to help assess ongoing transformations and identify the conditions that allow national economies not only to withstand shocks, but also to compete and sustain growth over the medium and long term.
The United States tops the ranking, as it did last year, followed by China in second place, Singapore in third and Germany in fourth.
Yemen, Burundi and Haiti occupy the bottom three positions.
Moldova’s neighbors in the ranking are Uzbekistan and Costa Rica.
Romania ranks 48th, Belarus 71st, while Iran, which is at war, ranks 73rd, ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Egypt. Ukraine and Russia are not included in the ranking.
