Termoelectrica Seeks to Raise Chisinau Heating Tariff by More Than 82%

Termoelectrica JSC has submitted an application to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) to increase the tariff for thermal energy supplied to consumers. The company is proposing to raise the tariff per gigacalorie from the current 2,020 lei to 3,689 lei. This would represent an increase of 82.6%, bani.md reports. Termoelectrica attributes the request primarily to higher production costs, particularly the cost of natural gas. For October-December 2026, the company has factored an average gas price of 21,212 lei per 1,000 cubic meters into its calculations, compared with 14,114 lei per 1,000 cubic meters for the April-September period. For October-December, the company forecasts the supply of 434,016 Gcal of thermal energy. Regulated costs for this activity are estimated at approximately 3.465 billion lei, while the tariff includes a regulated return of around 92.8 million lei. At the same time, Termoelectrica is seeking an increase in the tariff for electricity generated by the company. The requested price is 5.21 lei per kWh, compared with the current 2.31 lei. The difference is 2.90 lei per kWh, or 125.5%. The company again cites rising gas costs as the main reason. For October-December this year, Termoelectrica forecasts the generation and supply of around 228.9 million kWh of electricity. Regulated costs are estimated at 2.393 billion lei, while the regulated return is approximately 41.3 million lei.
