Prices for mineral fertilizers in Moldova continue to rise during the autumn agricultural season. According to an analysis by economist Iurie Rija, nitrogen fertilizer prices increased by 300-500 lei per ton between September 30 and October 6 alone. According to Rija, on October 6, urea with a 46% nitrogen content was selling for around 13,000 lei per ton in both Comrat and Cupcini. At the end of September, prices in the regions ranged from 12,500 to 13,200 lei per ton, while in Chisinau they reached as much as 13,500 lei, bani.md reports. Ammonium nitrate also became more expensive. On October 6, the fertilizer sold in big bags cost around 12,500 lei per ton, compared with 12,000-12,200 lei at the end of September. Ammonium nitrate in 50-kilogram bags is already selling for up to 14,000 lei per ton. The most noticeable price increase has been recorded for NPK 15:15:15 compound fertilizers. On August 28, nitroammophoska cost around 13,900 lei per ton, while the price has now reached 14,800 lei in southern Moldova and 15,200 lei in the north for the sulfur-containing product. Thus, in just over a month, the price has risen by as much as 1,300 lei per ton, or more than 9%. Ammonium sulfate is selling for 8,400 lei per ton in Comrat and 8,600 lei in Cupcini. UAN-32 costs around 10,500 lei, ammonium thiosulfate around 11,000 lei per ton, while sulfoammophos costs up to 14,800 lei. Regional price differences are largely linked to logistics. According to Rija, fertilizers in northern Moldova are typically 200-400 lei per ton more expensive than in the south due to higher transportation costs. In Chisinau, urea cost 13,500 lei per ton on September 30, while ammonium nitrate was priced at 12,800 lei, both above prices at regional warehouses. Import purchases also affect prices. On September 30, importers were buying urea from Turkmenistan at $535 per ton on FCA Constanta terms. Transportation to Moldova is paid separately. Ammonium sulfate from China was being purchased at approximately $295 per ton on FCA Constanta terms, also excluding the cost of delivery to the Moldovan market.
