French Foreign Minister Says Assad Won Syrian War

Bashar Assad won Syrian war, but peace in Syria is impossible without a political solution, says Jean-Yves Le Drian and reminded about the readiness to respond to the use of chemical weapons by government forces in Idlib. Le Drian said Sunday on France-Inter radio that Syrian President Bashar Assad won the warin Syria. However, he will not “win the peace” without a political solution brokered by the international community, stressed Le Drian. He said that even if Assad’s forces retake Idlib that will not solve the problems that unleashed the war.
