German Industry Defends Nord Stream 2 Gas Pipeline

German industry needs Nord Stream 2 to enhance energy supply safety, said the Federation of German Industry President. The U.S. does not exclude imposing sanctions against Nord Stream 2. Germany is not bowing to increasing U.S. pressure to drop the Russian-led Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and buy US liquefied gas instead, Süddeutsche Zeitung quotes the Federation of German Industry President Dieter Kempf. According to his words “economy needs Nord Stream 2 to enhance energy supply safety”. BDI President told about “a problem with a third country interfering in Germany energy policy” and noted that the government in particular “decides the need for a second source”.
