Space Force will be created as an addition to the Space Command, which will start operating this spring. President Donald Trump signed Space Policy Directive-4 (SPD-4) on Tuesday February, 19. The document reads that the Space Force is set up to repulse aggression and national interests. “Potential adversaries are now advancing their space capabilities and actively developing ways to deny our use of space in a crisis or conflict”, directive reads. The report by the Defense Intelligence Agency says that Russia and China are the main potential adversaries of the United States. The agency claims that Moscow and Beijing are taking a number of measures to fight against the U.S. in space, including developing “Military satellite, energy weapons and surveillance networks”. On Tuesday Pentagon reported that the Space Force is set up in addition to the Space Command, the establishment of which was first reported in December last year. According to high-ranking military officials, the Space Force task is regulation, military units training and national security support in space. Space Command will organize operations and direct the use of military force in space. “We need both (structures). I don’t think that one will harm the other”, said one of the administration’s officials. Source: Voice of America
