Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky said that the victory of Volodymyr Zelensky in the presidential election is a common victory for him and Minister of interior affairs Arsen Avakov. In an interview for Bihus.info the businessman noted many people congratulated him in the context of Zelensky's victory in the presidential election and stressed that he maintains a constant liaison with Avakov. “We were against Peter (Petro Poroshenko)”, - said Kolomoisky. During the election campaign, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called Zelensky a “Kolomoisky puppet”. Zelensky said in response that he had only business relations with the oligarch. Commenting on the situation in Eastern Ukraine, Kolomoisky said that there is a “civil conflict”. The oligarch also blamed Russia and former President Viktor Yanukovych for what was happening in the Donbas. According to him, in the East of the country Ukrainians are at war with Ukrainians, but the conflict was provoked and implemented by Russia.
  • Igor Kolomoisky is one of the richest people in Ukraine. After the Maidan in 2014 he headed the Dnepropetrovsk administration. It was alleged that he financed volunteer groups opposing Pro-Russian separatists in the Donbas.
  • Subsequently, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko removed Kolomoisky from office, and the Ukrainian authorities nationalized his PrivatBank, claiming that the oligarch brought it to the brink of bankruptcy.
  • A few days before the second round of presidential election in Ukraine, the court in Kiyv called into question the decision on nationalization of PrivatBank. The courts also made a number of decisions in favor of Kolomoisky. The authorities promised to challenge these decisions.
  • Kolomoisky lives abroad. Earlier he declared that after Zelensky’s victory he would return to Ukraine.
