Moldovan President Igor Dodon said that the Republic would not apply for membership in the European Union in the near future. According to him the country should have strategic partners both in the West and in the East. He noted that the European Union Association Agreement will not be canceled, but the authorities have never promised to join the EU. A balanced foreign policy is the preservation of friendly, strategic relations with our foreign partners both in the West and in the East, — the head of state added. Dodon also criticized the PMs who promised to apply for membership in the Association in a few years and recalled that representatives of the European Union say they are not ready to expand. “Where will they apply? <...> Balkan countries have been waiting for 5-10 years. Why are we in a hurry?” asks the President. News.ru
