Economy and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Brinzan asked for an urgent loan in Brussels to buy 400 million cubic meters of gas. Vadim Brinzan, who is visiting Brussels with Moldovan President Igor Dodon and Katarina Maternova, Deputy General Director for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, discussed some important issues for the Republic of Moldova: obtaining an urgent loan for the purchase and storage of approximately 400 million cubic meters of gas to meet the needs of Moldova in January and February 2020; ways to strengthen energy security; short and medium term energy development plans; investments in improving energy efficiency, the press service statement of the Ministry of Economy reads, reports mybusiness.md. Also the parties discussed the idea of creating a natural gas storage facility in the Republic of Moldova to buy and store natural gas to ensure the energy security of the country. Dodon and Brynzan also met with the Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič to discuss gas supplying to the Republic of Moldova for next year; cooperation between the EU, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to ensure the security of the reverse natural gas supply route through the Trans-Balkan pipeline from the TurkStream gas pipeline (through Bulgaria and Romania); storage of natural gas purchased this year from Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities.
