In June, a new majority of the parties was formed in the Moldovan parliament, which united against the oligarch who controlled the power in the country and the ex-leader of the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plahotniuc. After that, the oligarch and people close to him fled the country. The new authorities launched a large-scale anti-corruption campaign during which a number of MPs, as well as police, judges and other public servants were deprived of their parliamentary immunity.
