The recycling process of Russian ammunition on the territory of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic must take place with the participation of the OSCE. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Nicu Popescu stated this on the Epicenter programme on REN TV Moldova, reports news.md “Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during his last visit to Chisinau said that Russia could begin the process of ammunition recycling. On September 11, when I was in Moscow, we exchanged information on this subject with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. So far, there is no formal document on the basis of which cooperation can begin on this issue. There was only an exchange of opinions and political signals. In September the Russian side informed me that through the Russian defense department proposals are being developed that will be submitted to Moldova. Mr. Lavrov says that they need to form budget funds for the necessary equipment, make appropriate public procurements and that all these procedures can be completed by the spring of 2021. Then, according to the Russian side, it will be possible to go directly to the process of ammunition recycling. Our answer is this. The OSCE already has money for recycling - about 7-8 million Euros, which have long been transferred to a special fund for Moldova. That is, we propose to expedite the process, including through the use of this fund. Now we are actively exchanging views with the Russian Federation on this issue. From our point of view, any measures for the ammunition recycling on the territory of Transnistria should be taken together with the OSCE member states,” Popescu says. Point
