The ban on dual citizenship was created in Ukraine in one context, and now the context is completely different, Kuleba says. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is developing a bill on dual citizenship. Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Dmytro Kuleba said that on Tuesday, October 15, reports RBC-Ukraine. “The government has several approaches to how the idea of dual citizenship should be implemented, my colleagues from the Foreign Ministry are bringing this all to a holistic concept, but for me now the most important thing is that everyone is adequate to work on this issue. We began with the fact that this issue was perceived as something cosmic and unrealized. And now we are already discussing a specific bill,” Kuleba emphasized. He also noted that the legal status of a foreign Ukrainian is not filled with sufficient content, and the initiative will allow millions of people to maintain contact with Ukraine. “It so happened that millions of people left. We must maintain their connection with Ukraine. Both a passport and citizenship are one of these connecting points. I am glad that there is an evolution in this matter. I hope that it will be supported by society, because the ban on dual citizenship was created in one context, and now the context is completely different,” the diplomat said. During the press marathon President Volodymyr Zelensky said that it is planned to provide partial citizenship to ethnic Ukrainians. Earlier, former Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that Ukraine had a need for discussion on dual citizenship. At the same time, he emphasized that with the possible legalization of dual citizenship, this option for a Russian passport should be excluded. Correspondent
