The European Commission has approved a new tranche of 24.85 million Euros for the Republic of Moldova in as budget support. The money to be used to improve police services, increase economic opportunities in agriculture and rural development, unimedia.info reports. As to the continuation of the police reform, the money is allocated for the enhancement of conditions and quality of studies in the centers of excellence and training for police officers, for the implementation of a system of continuous professional police staff training and for the improvement of conditions in the preventive detention solitaries. The European Union resumed the granting of budget support and macro-financial assistance in July 2019. Two years ago the EU support was suspended due to the deterioration of the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova. The resumption of assistance is aimed at supporting the process of structural reforms undertaken by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. From July up to now, the European Union has provided 73.54 million Euros to the Republic of Moldova for the support and continuation of reforms, including 53.74 million Euros as budget support and 19.8 million Euros in the form of macro-financial assistance. By the end of this year, other 40 million Euros of macro-financial assistance is to be disbursed. Point
