Deputies of the Party from the Platform for Dignity and Truth (DA) faction believe that the transfer of shares in Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd to a Russian investor has jeopardized Moldova’s security. As deputies from DA noted at a press conference on December 23, they will demand the convening of a Supreme Security Council and an extraordinary meeting of parliament. Deputies said they could express a motion of no confidence in the government.
Alexander Slusar the Vice President of DA faction noted that, despite all the statements of President Igor Dodon, it seems he knew that the shares of the Chisinau Airport’s owner concessionaire were bought by the Russian investor Andrei Goncharenko.
“He (Goncharenko) was a top manager of Gazprom, and we know what Gazprom is, and we understand that he is a person controlled by the state authorities of Russia. Does anyone believe that this is a coincidence?” Slusar asked.
According to Slusar, this is how Igor Dodon pays tribute to Russia, allowing to establish control over the airport. Slusar noted that Dodon, “as the most diligent student of the ex-leader of the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plahotniuc, he made a dark scheme, before the holidays, when people are busy with other problems.”
In this regard, representatives of DA demanded that Dodon urgently convene the High Security Council with the participation of, inter alia, the opposition leaders.
Also, according to Slusar, immediately after the holidays DA will collect signatures in support of an extraordinary parliamentary meeting with the participation of the Prime Minister, the head of the Information and Security Service, the head of the National Anti-Corruption Center, the head of the prosecutor’s office and the Minister of Justice. They will be asked to report whether Goncharenko had the right to buy shares in a company that owns 98% of the shares of the Chisinau Airport concessionaire.
At the same time, DA will urgently develop a bill according to which any transactions with strategic objects of the state should be made with the consent of the Moldovan authorities.
The DA deputies also said they could express a motion of no confidence in the current government.
Let’s recall that the investment company of billionaire Nathaniel Rothschild, NR Investments Limited announced on December 22 that it refused to participate in the Cyprus offshore company Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd, which owns 95% of the Moldovan company Avia Invest SRL, which took over the Chisinau International Airport as a concession.
President Igor Dodon answered to the Press that he did not know who bought the shares of the concessionaire owner from Rothschild. According to Dodon, it does not matter who the new concessionaire for Chisinau Airport is, since the airport’s assets are now blocked.
