President Donald Trump made a statement after the destruction of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. He said that the United States did not seek a regime change in Iran, but was “ready to take whatever action is necessary” in the case Iran would threaten American citizens. Trump said: “We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war.” According to Trump, "the death of innocent people was Soleimani's sick passion," which was "caught in the act and terminated." Trump also said that the United States has the best military and intelligence in the world. He also emphasized that he has deep respect for Iranian people. Trump made this statement in his golf resort Mar-a-Lago, during his New Yearholidays. He did not answer questions from journalists. Voice of America
