Head of Cabinet Ion Chicu believes that the recent accusations made lately by several officials in Romania are based on the electoral interests of politicians throughout the Prut. "We have very good relations with Romania, but we don’t want them to be influenced by the electoral interests of some politicians," Prime Minister Ion Chicu said in an interview to Free Europe, writes nokta.mdwith reference to tv8.md The statement was made in the context of sharp reports from Bucharest regarding the continuation of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania only if our country demonstrates concrete actions in the European direction. Romanian President Klaus Johannis in an annual meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Chisinau said that Romania will resume “full” cooperation with the Republic of Moldova only when the Chisinau government demonstrates concrete actions aimed at continuing the European path. The head of the Romanian state assures that only projects designed specifically for citizens, projects with local influence and strategic relationships will be supported. According to Johannis, it is necessary to continue justice reforms aimed at combating corruption. Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Daniel Ioniţă also claims that the authorities in Bucharest will change the logic of financing for the Republic of Moldova. According to the Romanian diplomat, Bucharest will only finance specific projects at the local level. Daniel Ioniţă was also concerned about the fact that, despite Romania’s large investments, polls show that many Moldovans consider Russia to be one of the main investors.
