The Ukrainian leader emphasized that he sought to become the head of state in order to achieve peace in eastern Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he sought the presidency to achieve peace in the Donbass. He stated this in an interview with
The Times of Israel, published on January 19.
“I would never aspire to the presidency without such a goal,” the head of state emphasized, answering the question of whether it is possible to achieve peace in eastern Ukraine.
Zelensky also noted that he would like to more actively advance the settlement process, but there are "very complex issues."
"I see progress as the number of shellings has significantly dropped. But it still continues," he said.
Recall, on October 10 last year, Zelensky said at a press marathon that society had elected a president who would stop the war, and that is his five years’ mission.
