The Honorary Chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Dumitru Diacov said that PDM leaders meet with President Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Ion Chicu and Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi every Monday. At these meetings the leadership of the Democratic Party "expresses its claims to the authorities", Diacov said, on TV21 air program  Glavnoe (The Main), on January 26. At his turn, Dodon states that meetings with the PDM leadership are not held during weekly meeting with Greceanîi and Chicu. Diacov noted that besides him, the PDM chairman Pavel Filip and the party’s general secretary, Alexandru Jizdan, participate in the discussions. “We meet every Monday, we talk. And we discuss all the issues that concern us,” Diacov said.Diacov noted that the Democratic Party, remaining in the opposition, intends to monitor the way country's leadership fulfills its obligations. “We didn’t sign anything (the agreement with the PSRM on the creation of the coalition - NM). We did not undertake to be captives of this situation. We said that while the government works well, we support them. And when we gather on Mondays, we express our complaints to both institutes,” Diacov said. When asked why these meetings are held doors closed, Diacov answered that not everything needs to be made public. “You’re used to showing off everything. There are difficult issues that need to be discussed several times. And when people don’t understand and there’s no change happening, then you need to go out and talk about it publicly,” Diacov said. Answering journalists' questions after the weekly meeting with Greceanîi and Chicu, on January 27, Dodon said that representatives of the Democratic Party had never attended these meetings. “At 8 a.m. on Mondays, Democrats never participated in our meetings. But in the evenings we sometimes meet,” said Dodon. Recall that previously, ex-speaker Andrian Candu said that now the PDM is in opposition and does not participate in the leadership of the country. “But at the same time, we support the Chicu government as long as it fulfills its obligations to the PDM before the election of the government. I’m talking about social programs, tax and economic approaches,” Candu said. He stated that the Democratic Party is not negotiating with the socialists on the creation of a coalition. But, according to Candu, PDM does not exclude the creation of such a coalition.
