Maia Sandu does not exclude her participation in the presidential election. At the same time, she insists that the pro-European forces unite around a common candidate.
In her opinion, the main task is to prevent Igor Dodon from a second presidential mandate. This was stated by Sandu in an exclusive interview for the Prime TV channel,
publika.md reports.
-Will you run for president?
“The party will decide. The question for all of us: “Can the country afford to leave Dodon in power?” I think we should raise the question this way. I hope that several political parties will participate in the elections. People should understand that if they let Dodon stay further in power, then this country will become ghostly, without a population,” Maia Sandu said.
Sandu said that the PAS is already negotiating with pro-European forces to determine a common candidate: “We talked about this with the DA Platform. They stand for a non-party candidate. We said that we are open to dialogue, but we want to know who is in question. We cannot speak abstractly, we cannot bet on an unknown person. We also spoke with the UNIREA bloc; we remain open for other negotiations. We’ll try to discuss the matter in the coming weeks with other interested parties. "
Maia Sandu admitted that she rarely communicates with former Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Nastase: “We rarely communicate, although I’ve been trying to find him and talk for two weeks, but he’s busy. Now he’s not in the country, I hope when he returns, we will talk.”
