Maia Sandu, chairman of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), believes that the economic measures proposed by the state on March 30 are not enough to save jobs. She noted in social networks that “the proposed measures - reimbursement of enterprises that have been forced to cease operations, taxes and social contributions from personal income, and an increase in the minimum unemployment benefit are insufficient,” infotag.md reports. “Only large enterprises that can pay salaries will benefit from these measures. Small and medium enterprises that make payments based on current turnover are not able to pay either salaries or taxes. And the proposed measures can make dismissal more attractive, since only those who have lost their jobs will receive unemployment allowance,” Sandu said. She again called on the authorities to ensure “payment of 75% of the base wage to victims of technical unemployment within three months in order to save jobs and prevent the chain bankruptcy of enterprises in the active stage of the crisis.” “Given the slowdown in economic activity and the global economic decline forecasts, we urge the government to also take urgent and decisive measures to ensure companies have access to liquidity. This will slow down the economic downturn and give households, economic agents and government agencies the opportunity to analyze the impact of the crisis and adapt its activities in accordance with the new realities,” Sandu said.
