"In the next few days, we will reach one million confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection," he said. Gebreyesus expressed concern about the "rapid growth and global spread of infection." "Over the past five weeks, we have witnessed a near exponential growth in the number of new COVID-19 cases reaching almost every country, territory and area" said the head of WHO. According to him, the number of deaths over the past week has more than doubled and in the near future the number of patients to die as a result of coronavirus infection will increase to 50 thousand people. According to the latest data, as of April 1, more than 912 thousand cases of infection with a new coronavirus have been recorded, more than 45 thousand infected have died. Meanwhile, about 192 thousand patients recovered. The day before, WHO and the WTO warned of a shortage of products in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Before that, WHO announced that Europe was approaching the peak of the outbreak of coronavirus.
