The US Department of Commerce has announced blacklisting 33 Chinese companies and government organizations. Corresponding sanction lists appeared on Friday, May 22, on the ministry’s website. Eight companies and the Forensic Science Institute of the PRC Public Security Ministry were sanctioned for participating in the “repression and massive illegal detentions campaign” against Uighur and other Muslim minorities. The United States suspects other companies and organizations of activities that threaten the country's national security and of mass destruction weapons creation. All blacklisted companies are prohibited to export goods and technology from the United States. U.S.-China tensions are growing after the U.S. President Donald Trump put forward the accusations on the pandemic breakout information hiding. In May, the bill introduced in the US Senate allowed Trump to impose sanctions against Beijing for refusing to cooperate in identifying the coronavirus pandemic causes. NPC spokesman Zhang Yesui on Friday at the annual session of the Chinese parliament opening threatened the United States with "retaliation" if the US Congress imposes sanctions on China for this reason.
