President Igor Dodon considers the decision of the Constitutional Court (CC) “according to which early parliamentary elections are prohibited from being held simultaneously with the presidential” to be “predictable”. The president stated this on July 7 for unimedia.info portal. “This decision of the Constitutional Court was predictable. We are still convinced that the current parliament is compromised, it consists of fugitive deputies and people of the oligarchy. Therefore, this parliament needs to be reset and cleared of oligarchic spam,” Dodon said. According to the president, early parliamentary elections are inevitable. “We will focus on the will of the people and, if necessary, organize early parliamentary elections as soon as possible in terms of the law,” Dodon said. Recall, July 7, the Constitutional Court ruled that dissolution of parliament 6 months before the presidential election is prohibited in any case, as well as the holding of early elections simultaneously with the presidential. Thus, it follows from the decision of the Constitutional Court that early parliamentary elections can be held only after the president’s mandate expires.
