The Commission for Control of Interpol’s Files refused to include the former DPM leader, Vladimir Plahotniuc, on the international wanted list. Moreover, it was decided to remove his data from the Organization’s databases. The Prosecutor General’s Office was informed of this decision yesterday, July 23, 2020, according to unimedia.info The decision was taken at the last session of the Commission, held from June 29 to July 3, 2020 in Lyon, France, which found that “the storage of the applicant’s data is incompatible with Interpol’s obligation to ensure effective cooperation between police authorities in the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (article 2 of the Constitution /V Interpol)”. Since the Commission did not indicate the reasons for its decision, the General Prosecutor’s Office will contact the Office of International Police Cooperation under the General Police Inspectorate with a request to explain the reasons for the decision not to declare Plahotniuc on the international wanted list. Based on the response received, the prosecutor’s office will decide on how to proceed in the future.
