Prime Minister Ion Chicu does not rule out that some of the restrictions in force in the country due to the coronavirus epidemic before May 15 may be reintroduced if the number of infections increases. Chicu also noted that the festivities held annually at the end of August will be canceled. Chicu announced this on July 27 after a weekly joint meeting with the president and speaker. According to Chicu, last week’s number of cases of infection increased compared to the previous week for the first time in the past month. “I appeal to citizens and especially politicians who continue their insolent policy on this issue to show maximum responsibility. Otherwise, current bans cannot be canceled. Moreover, they may introduce restrictions that were in effect until May 15,” Chicu said. Chicu said that the events on the occasion of the holidays held annually in Moldova at the end of August will be canceled. Cultural events can only be viewed on TV. Let us remind that in Moldova the state of health emergency was extended until August 31. Educational institutions, including kindergartens, children’s recreation camps, nightclubs and cinemas, will not work in Moldova until the end of August. The ban on gathering in public places in groups of more than three people remains in force. And people over 63 years old can leave the house only in case of urgent need. In addition, citizens entering the country are still required to comply with the self-isolation regime for 14 days.
