The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) believes that the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) acted shortsightedly when refusing to create a single bloc for the November 1 presidential elections. “The PAS position lacks political foresight and that is regrettable. Will arrogance and selfishness be necessary within the upcoming elections, let’s see” the PLDM said on 20 August.
“The reasons given by PAS do not correspond to the current political situation. Selected candidate does not mean registered candidate. As to the law there is still time to create an electoral bloc. Our experience shows that when there is political will, we can act with greater responsibility. As it was in 2016, when the registered candidate Andrei Nastase 15 days before the elections refused to race in Maia Sandu’s favor,” the PLDM said.
At the same time, the PLDM stressed that they consider the position of the Platform for Dignity and Truth (DA) politically balanced and correct. Recall, the DA vice-chairman, Alexander Slusari said that the Liberal Democrats’ proposal will be discussed at the formation bureau meeting.
Earlier on August 19, the
PLDM proposed PAS and DA to start negotiations on creating an electoral bloc and nominating a single candidate for the presidential elections. PLDM believes as well that the same pre-election bloc is needed in early parliamentary elections, when they are appointed. PAS replied that they do already have a candidate and DA said that the proposal was late made but promised to discuss it at the bureau meeting.
