The leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) party, Andrei Nastase, called on the pro-European political parties to create a single electoral bloc to prevent the November 1st presidential elections rigging. He announced this at a briefing on 23 August.
“Despite the fact that the election campaign has not yet begun, we are already receiving alarming information from different regions of the country about cases of citizens’ bribery. We are concerned that the elections may be rigged by means of illegal actions, manipulations and pressure,” Nastase said.
In this regard, the DA Platform calls on the pro-European political parties to “join forces” to prevent events similar to those taking place in Belarus and to avoid a possible repetition of the April 7, 2009 mass riots. Nastase suggested that the pro-European political parties delegate their representatives to the district electoral councils and appoint observers at every polling station, including abroad.
“It is much wiser and more effective to fight against election fraud before the vote than to challenge the results after,” Nastase said.
Recall, the leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform party, Andrei Nastase, Chairman of the Action and Solidarity party Maia Sandu, leader of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoaca and chairman of the National Unity Party (PUN) Octavian Ticu stated they participate in presidential elections appointed for November 1st current year.
