The head of state said that he appealed to many European leaders requesting to provide Ukraine with a list of requirements needed to join the European Union. The EU should clearly declare to Ukraine the conditions for obtaining full membership in the European Union. This stated President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Euronews TV channel, presidential press service reported on Wednesday, August 26. “I believe that a clear Europe’s position towards Ukraine is very important for Ukrainians. And I asked many European leaders the question: “You must answer the Ukrainians what are the needed steps to be taken one by one to become EU members,” the head of state said. According to Zelensky, after receiving a specific list of steps, it will be clear what is to be done and how long it will take for Ukraine's European integration. "So that everyone has an understanding of what we need now - both Ukraine and Europe. It seems to me that we just need to create a kind of country that Europe really wants. But it is still Ukraine that should decide," the president stressed. In his opinion, despite the fact that not all EU countries want to see Ukraine in the EU, the European Union as a whole wants Ukraine to be a partner and possess a membership. At the same time, as Zelensky noted, the countries of Europe and the EU support Ukraine and stand firmly on the position to protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty. "We see the way Europe is acting with sanctions today, the way it supports us, losing money due to sanctions against the Russian Federation," Zelensky said, noting that he was grateful for such a position. Earlier it was reported that the EU is ready to increase trade with Ukraine. It is planned to modernize preferences for goods import into the EU under a number of trade agreements, the total amount of which in 2019 amounted to 677 billion euros. Recall that the Cabinet has fulfilled a number of EU conditions to ensure the uniformity measurements in the defense sector.
