Igor Dodon congratulated country’s residents on the Independence Day both in Moldovan and Russian languages. The head of state stressed that 2020 turned out to be quite difficult for the whole country and became difficult for absolutely every one of us, aif.md reported. We all face two major challenges - the COVID pandemic, which has claimed hundreds of lives and is a huge health challenge, and the severe drought that has killed tens of thousands of hectares of crops. Both the pandemic and the drought hit hard on the national economy. Since 1991, Moldova has not yet gone through such painful trials, he said. “I’ll be honest, in such conditions it was extremely difficult to govern the country, find solutions and ensure pensions and wages payment, find money for roads and provide financial assistance. But I thank God and my government colleagues for succeeding to save economic and social securities. I am grateful to everyone, and to each citizen individually, for your understanding and patience. I want to assure you that we will definitely overcome these difficult times, " Dodon said. The President added that “this year has taught us all to cope with adversity, we have shown willpower and strength of character, have become stronger and wiser”. "The pandemic and the drought will definitely end, this is inevitable, and we will continue to develop the country with renewed vigor, having hope for tomorrow and with faith for a decent future for the Republic of Moldova. Dear citizens, I congratulate you on the 29th anniversary of Independence Day! May long live our country, the Republic of Moldova! Dears, be healthy and kind to each other! "- summed the President up.
