President Maia Sandu's decisive announcement of early elections or the initiation of a procedure for her removal from office by referendum divided the MPs into camps. While socialists and democrats say that this is the first time for the Republic of Moldova that the decision of the Constitutional Court is not respected at the highest level, PAS MPs say that the emergency situation in the country requires radical measures, ipn.md reports. The socialists were perplexed by President Sandu's announcement about early elections or an appeal to the people through a referendum as part of the exercise of her dismissal. PSRM MPs claim that the head of state only aggravates the current domestic political crisis. "Madam President is back on the barricades. Instead of analyzing the decision of the Constitutional Court, the head of state adds fuel to the fire and unleashes a new political war. Since the 90s, when the head of state began confrontation with the parliament, the parliament has always emerged victorious from this war, because the legislative branch is not subordinate to the head of state," Vasile Bolea said in the program "Politics of Natalia Morari" on TV8. On the other hand, PAS deputies say that the only way to break the political deadlock is through early elections and a reset of parliament. "I am proud of the decision made by the President of the country. There is a big difference between the incumbent president and Igor Dodon, who feared Plahotniuc. Now, the choice is made between a group of deputies who are afraid of early elections, who want to continue the theft, and the people's decision to choose their future," PAS deputy, deputy chairman of parliament Mihai Popsoi said. Democrats offer the head of state to comply with the Constitutional Court decision and begin consultations with parliamentary factions. "The President must bring peace and cooperation. There should not be this war between the presidential institution, parliament and, what is new, the Constitutional Court. This will be the first time for the country if the president does not obey the decision of the Constitutional Court. There must be a compromise and the factions must be convened for consultations," DPM MP Dumitru Diacov said. President Maia Sandu said that the people are the real holders of power in the state, and only they can resolve the situation. According to her, through early elections or a referendum, people will decide their future and the future of the country. The statements were made on Tuesday evening after the Constitutional Court's decision, according to which the decree on reappointing Natalia Gavrilita as prime minister was declared unconstitutional. The Constitutional Court ruled that parliamentary factions and the President of the Republic of Moldova should resort to new consultations on appointing the Prime Minister.
