The European Union supports the intention of the three countries to cooperate on the issue of European integration.
The European Union stated that it respects and shares the commitment of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova to European integration. The representative of the EU diplomatic service Peter Stano on Tuesday, May 18, commented to the
Interfax-Ukraine agency on the creation of the so-called Associated Trio format by the three countries.
"The European Union recognizes the European aspirations and the European choice of associated partners - Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. These countries are close EU neighbors and partners in the Eastern Partnership. All our neighbors are sovereign and independent. We respect their choices, foreign policy priorities and strategic goals, in particular the signing of a memorandum between them to strengthen cooperation in the field of European integration, "he assured.
Stano also noted that the EU, through its existing association agreements, including deep and comprehensive free trade areas, "shares the commitment" to strengthen political association and economic integration with these countries.
"The European Union supports each of these countries in their reform and transformation processes, investing significant time, financial and technical assistance to provide tangible benefits and improve the lives of citizens," Stano said.
He also added that the EU is focused on the full implementation of its Association Agreements in order to take full advantage of the opportunities they offer.
