The chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Pavel Filip believes that after early elections, the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) can only form a coalition with PDM. As Filip noted on June 1, on the air of Puterea a Patra, the citizens understand this and therefore will vote for PDM in elections.
According to Filip, last year’s presidential elections showed that the majority of voters voted not only for Maia Sandu or against Igor Dodon, but for a government change. According to Filip, a new majority in parliament cannot be created without the Democratic Party.
“Citizens and voters of Moldova are rational people and understand that nothing good will be in the next parliament without the Democratic Party. This is precisely what the left, which has created a united front against the Democratic Party, is fighting for. They are well aware that it is precisely this number of mandates that will interfere with their plans. For these reasons, the citizens of Moldova will vote for the Democratic Party. (…) I think that the next coalition can only consist of the Democratic Party and the PAS,” Filip said.
According to Filip, a coalition government is needed to observe democratic principles in governing the country.
“One party cannot rule the country by democratic methods. Because over time, this political party deviates to the other extreme. The best government is the coalition government,” Filip said, noting that it is such a government that can pursue a balanced policy.
Note that the CEC has already registered nine parties that will take part in the early parliamentary elections on July 11. These are the pre-election bloc of Communists and Socialists, the Build Europe at Home Party, the Civil Congress Party, the Renato Usatyi electoral bloc, the Action and Solidarity Party, the Shor Party, the Speranța-Nadejda Movement, the Democratic Party and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”.
