The European Union is optimistic for the new parliament, as well as the overwhelming majority of nationals of the Republic of Moldova.
The EU Delegate to Chisinau Peter Michalko, who came to the first session of the new parliament, as realitatea.md reports, shares this opinion.
"This parliament, elected by expressing the people’s will, shall contribute to the changes that people expect and deserve. It is important that the new parliament sets its priorities in the most important areas. The European Union has high hopes for the reform process," Michalko told reporters, entering the parliament building.
The constituent session of the new parliament is taking place today, July 26. The session will elect the leadership of the parliament and shape permanent parliamentary commissions.
Early parliamentary elections were held in Moldova on July 11. According to the results provided by the Central Election Commission, only three political parties entered the new parliament: the PAS, which will represent the parliamentary majority with 52.8% of votes, the opposite Communist and Socialist Bloc with 27.17% of votes, and the Shor Party that received 5.74% of votes.
