The company’s CEO, Sergiu Cotelnik, states that the decision was made due to the fact that the volume of cargo transported did not reach the planned level. At the same time, Cotelnik added that the 600 people on technical leave are administrative staff, while employees directly involved in transport activities continued to work throughout the period. The head of the railway company explained that a special schedule had been established and employees were periodically called to work “depending on the needs of the enterprise”, according to rupor.md. This is the second time the company has extended the compulsory leave, which began on 22 December. During the period of technical unemployment, employees receive 55% of their salary.
