Home / Politics / Hungary Blocks Opening of New Negotiation Clusters for Moldova and Ukraine
The decision was taken at a technical meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, October 20.
Hungarian representatives did not explain the reasons for their decision, Kyiv Independent reports, citing European diplomats, according to ziua.md.
Representatives of all 27 EU member states were expected to approve a procedural step required to open the final two negotiation clusters, covering the environment, transport, agriculture and cohesion policy.
According to the publication, Hungary opposed the move, drawing criticism from the other 26 member states. When asked to justify its decision, Budapest’s representatives said only that the country’s position remained unchanged.
