Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gerciu met yesterday with a delegation of Romanian businessmen - representatives of the Agricover Group and the Romanian Farmers' Club for Agricultural Performance. The purpose of the business mission's visit was to promote business projects and social responsibility initiatives in agriculture, moldpres.md reports. The parties discussed opportunities for establishing cooperation relations at the government level in the field of agriculture and intensifying ties between producers on both banks of the Prut. In this context, the Romanian side stated its intention to promote the efficient agriculture model and benefit from national specifics by launching the Young Leaders in Agriculture program in our country. "The program envisages five scholarships to university graduates who will take on a family business in agriculture or develop their own business in the agricultural sector. In addition, young entrepreneurs will be encouraged to ensure business continuity in agriculture, participate in social responsibility projects and take on leadership roles in their own businesses and in rural areas," the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry reports. The members of the delegation also stated that the Program will allow young people to benefit from training and best practice sharing on various agricultural aspects.
