Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed hope that Moldova "will be able to act independently without being prompted from the outside."
The United States and the European Union have unprecedented interference in the internal affairs of Moldova, directly forbidding the President of the Republic, Maia Sandu, to talk about the desire to have normal relations with Russia, tass.ru reports.
This was announced on Wednesday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the opening of the 17th meeting of the heads of security agencies and intelligence services of the CIS states on intelligence activities.
“We support the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, a historically close country to us. We respect the results of the July parliamentary elections. We are deeply concerned about the unprecedented nature of Washington and Brussels' interference in the internal political processes in the republic, when the president of this country is directly forbidden to even voice its desire to have normal relations with the Russian Federation. We hope that Chisinau will be able to act independently without being prompted from the outside," the minister said.
